SLI batteries are used to deliver power over a short period, such as starting an engine or electric charges related to the ignition of fires on vehicles. SLI batteries also provide the necessary extra power when the load of the vehicle exceeds the capacity of power by the charging system (alternator), and play the role of voltage on the power system stabilizer, reducing the tension peaks and thus preventing the appearance of damage on other components of the electric system.

Batteries starting lighting ignition (SLI) demonstrate excellent performance for the starting power, simply requiring a surface discharge. Deep cycle batteries are designed for applications requiring power consumption significant and repeated, as the engines of boats, electric wheelchairs, inner power of motor homes, and for the startup applications, when the system load exceeds the power output of the alternator for a short period.
